How Important Is Your Klout Score?lenakhalid
As more and more people utilize social media to connect with other people in their respective industries and to establish credibility and authority online, they are paying more and more attention to their respective Klout Score. Some may be questioning just how important a Klout Score really is to their professions and their futures.
A Klout Score takes into account how engaged your followers, fans, and contacts are in social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, and others.
There has been much talk of late on what engagement is and how important it is to your reputation. As well as how important it is to your site’s ranking in the search engines (i.e. SEO).
That is because search engines are factoring your social media accounts, how active you are in them, and how engaged your followers/fans/contacts are in regards to the material you post to them. Thus, for you to do well at social media and to obtain engagement (which virtually wants and should want), you need to have a solid to good Klout Score.
It is very hard to gain meaningful authority and gain that valuable engagement you need to be successful without a good Klout Score.
Klout Scores are not just important in the online world either. There are businesses that will greatly consider your Klout Score when considering you for a position, especially a position related to social media marketing, social media management, and online reputation management. There are even some businesses that won’t even consider candidates unless they have a Klout Score of at least a certain level, as this indicates to them a certain level of competence and proficiency when it comes to utilizing social media.
With that said, social media proficiency and a high Klout Score alone will not determine whether you succeed or fail in a career that is largely offline-based, online-based, or both. After all, social media only makes up a part of the online world, and the online world only makes up a segment of what makes a successful career.
There are still other elements that don’t rely as much or at all on social media. This includes presenting information in front of clients, convincing them that your products/services are the solution to their problems, and following up with them to make sure that they are satisfied, etc.
Therefore, a Klout Score is important in the sense that you should know how to proficiently use social media to get your message out there and to follow up with clients/prospects/customers in order to ensure that they see you as the authority in your niche. However, social media is not everything and will not serve to solve all problems/issues you may have in your business and/or career.
While a good Klout Score can be quite helpful in boosting your reputation and authority, it should NOT be your sole focus. It should help to hone your social media efforts and your ability to adapt to what your prospects/fans/customers want, but it should not be the be-all, end-all when it comes to business and career success.
Therefore, a healthy balance of working to improve your Klout Score while also focusing on other aspects of your business and/or career outside of social media is the best approach to improving your business and/or career aspirations.
